To start the Kuari Pass trek, we start our drive to Dhak village. Today we start our trek to the beautiful Kuari Pass. We trek through a hemlock, oak and rhododendron forests for approximately 6 kms before a short and steep descent to the grassland and campsite at Akhod Getha. The impressive snow-capped ridge, including Chaukhamba 1 (7138 m), can be seen beyond Joshimath. The shepherds living between here and the Kuari Pass Trek are from Rishikesh or Haridwar and graze flocks of sheep and goats throughout summer. There is a small spring line at the head of the meadow for replenishing your water supply.

Day 3: Trek to Kuari Top

We will start our day early with a few stretching exercises in the morning followed by breakfast. After this our trek leader will brief us about today’s trek schedule. Today we will trek for around 5 kms to Kuari Pass, First leg of today’s trek is a gradual ascend till Khullara top and from there traversing through the snow patch we reach Kuari Top. At Kuari Pass top winds will gush past you. Savour the unending vistas of great Himalayan peaks including the famous Nanda Devi.

In the evening, we trek back to our campsite, Akhod Getha and enjoy hot dinner at night.

Spend a couple of hours by this majestic lake, reflecting the Chaukhamba peak in its still waters. Retracing the same route we descend to Sari Village and further drive to Kund. Overnight in tents.

After a brief stop for refreshments we trek further to the summit of Chandrashilla peak. The summit offers views of big Himalayan peaks like Nanda Devi, Trishul, Chaukhamba. From the summit we descend to Chopta & be driven to the lodge in Kund. Overnight in tents.

Your first stop will be Har ki Pauri. Trusted to be one the holiest Ghats in the country, Har Ki Pauri is supposedly the first place where Ganga touches plains, leaving behind the pristine ranges of the Himalayas. The ghat is also known as the Brahma Kund where you can view the stone which has an imprint of Lord Vishnu’s foot, as pointed out by the name. You will also explore two bridges in Rishikesh. First is Lakshman Jhula, the popular hanging bridge across the holy river Ganga. This 450 ft long Jhula is built at a height of 70 ft from the river and is about 3 kms away from the main town of Rishikesh. The other bridge is Ram Jhula which is the iron Parallax Bridge on the river Ganga in Rishikesh. Ram Jhula is the newer bridge named after Lakshman’s brother, Lord Ram.
